Each year, National Cervical Health Awareness Month is celebrated in January all over the United States to increase the understanding of the general public about the disease.
The Coronavirus has completely changed business and household dynamics all across the United States. A majority of kids are attending school virtually and have minimal-to-none extra-curricular activities . This new norm is taking a toll on kids and parents alike.
In this blog, we will share some ideas around Dallas for kids (or parents) to be out-and-about while maintaining social distancing.
Although the 2020 State Fair of Texas has been canceled, Fair Park in South Dallas is still open! Take your child to Fair Park and walk around, giving them the opportunity to explore the quiet area.
Fair Park has one of the country’s biggest collections of 1930s Art Deco Architecture. Walk with your child around the gigantic murals and go on an adventure to explore the empty Cotton Bowl stadium. If your child loves art and adventures, this can be the trip of a lifetime!
If you still have not taught your kids how to ride a bike, now is the time! Take your kids out to White Rock Lake in Northeast Dallas. More than 1 million people visit this lake each year, but you can expect it to be much quieter this time around. Hop on a bike with your kids and cycle 9 miles around the lake. The path is entirely safe and separated from local traffic.
Reminisce how movies were shown in the “olden days” by taking your family out to a drive-in. While DFW only had a handful of Drive-Ins, many have popped up given the recent events of the pandemic. So pop some popcorn and cozy up under the stars to enjoy a favorite past-time.
Explore the first-ever zoo in Southwest America! The Dallas zoo is built on 106 acres with many outdoor spaces that guarantee social distancing. Explore more than 430 species of animals and marine life from all around the world. There is so much to look at; you can spend all day and not get bored! However, remember to purchase tickets beforehand since a limited number of visitors are being allowed to enter.
Take your kids out for a lovely autumn evening at the Arboretum and Botanical Garden in Dallas. The Garden is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. There are hundreds of exhibits and themed areas, including an adventure bridge, caterpillar maze, elevated skywalk, and a 500-foot trail through woodland. Holiday at the Arboretum’s “12 Days of Christmas” gazebo display begins November 7. Stroll through the luscious gardens, play in the maze, and enjoy the fall weather while following COVID-19 precautions set forth by the Arboretum.
While COVID-19 has shaken things up for many of us, it is important to keep our children (and ourselves) engaged in different activities. We hope your family tries out some of the aforementioned social distancing activities.
Lastly, remember to wash your hands frequently and wear a mask to keep Dallas safe while having fun!
